Little Buddha is 10 days old. Here are some reflections:
- As the opening sentence shows, we’re currently measuring her life in days. Soon we’ll move to weeks and in the spring we’ll probably start using months. It won’t be until her second birthday that we’ll count in years, and even then we’ll qualify it with halves and quarters.
A time-bending, remarkable event awaits us this week. No, not the birth of the Second Coming, although we’re in impatient countdown mode to the due date on the 28th. Before then, though, something nearly as important will occur, temporarily altering the whole dynamic of our little family. In the next day or so, the Duchess will weigh more than me.
The Duchess is very organised. If she ever investigates her family tree, I reckon she’ll discover that her grandfather was secretly director of NASA during the late 1960s. She packed a bag for hospital a good month ago. I know we ended up staying in an extra five days after the Boy Wonder was born but I once made my way round SE Asia for six months with luggage half the size.
